TIPS

■ If you prefer, rather than winding the yarn around your finger you could start each motif with 5ch, then ss in first ch to form a ring. It is a bit easier to work into a chain ring but the centers of the motifs won’t be as small.

■ To fasten off the motifs neatly don’t use chain stitch; cut the end and pull it through after working the last stitch, then darn the end in to join the round.

BACK AND FRONT

First line of motifs Work as given for Pink Flower Top (see page 78) until 17 motifs have been completed. Join in a ring with 18th motif in same way as given for 16th motif of Pink Flower Top.

Cont making and joining motifs in same way as camisole until 11 rounds of motifs have been completed.

Front and sleeves. First line of motifs (RS) Make and join 8 motifs in a row for left sleeve, make and join 9 motifs across front, make and join 8 motifs in a row for right sleeve.

2nd line of motifs With RS facing, make and join 24 motifs.

3rd line of motifs With RS facing, make and join 25 motifs.

Neck shaping. Next line of motifs With RS facing, make and join 10 motifs, omit center 4 motifs, make and join 10 motifs.

Back and sleeves Work back in the same way as front until 2nd line of motifs has been completed.

3rd line of motifs Make 10 motifs joining to front and back each time, join next motif to back and one sp of last motif at neck edge, join 3 motifs to back only, join next motif to back and one sp of first motif at neck edge, join last 10 motifs to front and back each time.

JOIN SLEEVES

Left sleeve With WS facing and taking both sides of sleeves together each time, join yarn to 2nd 7ch sp of motifs at cuff edge, * 2sc in sp, 1sc in 3dtrtog, 2sc in next sp, 7ch, rep from * 6 more times, 2sc in sp, 1sc in 3dtrtog, 2sc in next sp. Fasten off.

Underarm motif 5ch, ss in first ch to form a ring, 1ch, 1sc in ring, [* 5ch, 1sc in sc joining motifs, 5ch *, 1sc in ring] 5 times, rep from * to *, ss in first sc. Fasten off.

Right sleeve Join and work underarm motif in same way as left sleeve. Darn in end.

SLEEVE EDGINGS

Fill each space between motifs at cuff edge of sleeves with a half motif made and joined until 4 petals of motif have been completed, work 1dtr in ring, fasten off.

With RS facing, join yarn at sleeve seam.

Round 1 1ch, 2sc in first sp after join, * [1sc in 3dtrtog, 5sc in next sp] twice, 2sc in each of next 2 sps, rep from * 5 times, 1sc in 3dtrtog, 5sc in next sp, 1sc in 3dtrtog, 2sc in last sp, ss in first sc. Fasten off. Darn in ends.

NECK EDGING

With RS facing, join yarn to right-hand 3dtrtog of shoulder motif.
